Has This Happened To Anyone Else?

today just isn't my day...

i logged off last night, went to bed, got up this morning ready to play FFXI to see if maybe i could get to lvl 25 today on my WAR/MNK. but i couldn't log into the play online viewer, so i thought "no big deal, probly just an update or maybe maintenence". so i waited a while went to go get something to eat....and when i got back i logged on just fine and everything.... only to find that i could not click on the "select character" icon in the menu....the only thing that i could pick was the "create character" icon. thats right...my characters are gone...even my mule. i'm not raving mad, i only had a lvl 21 WAR and a lvl 16 MNK and only about 60k....but i feel like this past week i have accomplished nothing, with the exception of my now broader knowledge of the game.

like i said, atleast i didn't have months or years of time invested in this character.....but i only hope that this didn't happen to some of you.

i also don't really know if this was an error on SE's part or maybe my account got hacked and they deleted all of my characters, but i have no idea why someone would want to hack my account and steal my lvl 10 WAR gear.

if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could i trouble anyone for another world pass and a link pearl. thank you

YOu might want to check with SE first and see if you can get them back. Hate to see you lose everything in one shot.

Maybe you should go into the Content ID section and see if you have any deleted content IDs. If so, re-activate them and see if your characters come back.

I would also recomend a spyware-virus check asap. Unless someone was looking over your shoulder when you entered your account info and password, that is probably how they got it (from a trojan program).
If your on a budget, AVG (Grisoft) has a free virus software, and Lavasofts Adaware is free, as is Zone Alarm (which besides being a great firewall, will tell you if a program (like a trojan) is trying to access the internet and stop it.
And be sure to change your password.

P. S. I don't think you would need a world pass if your characters where already on Rag. I've deleted all my characters before, and the program always sent me back to Rag.

i clean my pc on a regular basis, haven't found anything really, no keyloggers or anything of that nature, i just got done cleaning it again though with a few anti-virus, ant-spyware, and anti-adware programs.

my content ID's are still there too, so it looks like my characters just got deleted.

and i've tried to make a new character, but i keep getting sent to fenrir, fairy, and hades.

how would i go about getting deleted characters back if that is possible? thank you.

Well, after the login difficulties last night and this morning I am not sure where the SE programmers and GMs were hiding. I did find this one. I guess that explains the problem at SE.
