Found a thread in the Lotro forums for Balrog fight.

I have not done any Rift raiding yet. But there was a reply a couple down that talks about positioning the Balrog near a pillar and using Line of Sight to help prevent some of the AOE's. Sounds like a good tactic if you all have not tried it out.

After four attempts on the Balrog this weekend, I've become very curious and started looking into what's out there. I found this strat laying around and thought it did a decent job of narratively explaining the process. There may be some details that are out of date, but it looks to be accurate in most parts.

I am convinced that this is completely do-able, and I know we're going to get it soon. It looks like we just need the perfect composition and a raid that works well together.

Also as a side note, I keep seeing people talking about having multiple LMs and multiple Captains. After seeing the fight, I think we can agree the two LMs are completely necessary given the amount of stun protection and other various things they have to Spam. The other big point noticed was that other kins are using two captains -- one in the melee group next to the balrog and one back with the rest of the raid. They both are spamming IDOME and Muster Courage (both are pretty vital) and are buffing as often as possible. By having two, you can use two marks on the mob, and you can have separate banners set up (Hope for the melee crowd, and victory for the rest of the raid). I think those things would make a huge difference. Not to mention, by adding a couple extra LMs and Captains, you're adding that many more people that can rez when needed (and we really could have used those raises this weekend).

Just figured I'd through my observations out there why I had it fresh on my mind; I'm sure there are plenty of things I still need to learn / be aware of.

EDIT: Ty confirmed in kinchat tonight that the composition a lot of successful raids are using is 1 tank, 2 mins, 2 captains, 2 LMs, 1 burg, 2 hunters, and 2 champs. Looks like that's the way to go.

I haven't read the link you posted but I agree, 2 LM's are vital. I really think if we could have had a second one on that fourth run it would have gone better. My fault for dieing right at the beggining. Also I do think it makes it a lot easier getting him into the everseer room.
