    We have POST TOO! ;p

So we took a drive to Microcenter after I discovered we could probably get Dagazs back online for ~$300.

What we discovered was a lot of stuff on sale. So we spent a little more but ended up with a far better solution for her.

    Bought

    Core I5 760
    OCZ Gold 4GB DDR3 Ram (Cas7)
    Corsair TX 750 Power Supply
    Asus P755D Pro Motherboard
58 in 1 Memory card reader (she wanted it)

    Had laying about

Antec 900 Case (thank you all AGAIN! this was the second case that was misshipped back when you guys pitched in).
    NVIDIA 8800 GTX
Seagate Baracuda 500 GB SATA HDD
    Asus DVD +/_ Burner SATA
Windows 7 RC1 (Valid until next spring, so we're sitting on it until then)

All hooked up to her trusty 20" dell Ultrasharp Widescreen 1650 x 1050.

So we went out looking to spend $300 ish and spend $500 ish instead. Mostly due to buying a Poiwersupply, 4Gb RAM and the card reader. The processor was actually $20 CHEAPER than a Core2Quad and the Motherboard was on sale in store for $50 off.

So at the moment Windows 7 is installed, anti-virus and all drivers are in. LOTRO is patching (only 7k files to go!).

I'll post up frame rates when I can. I'm thinking this thing is going to match or exceed my GTX260 powered core2duo. Which should make Quen happy, if this thing hits the marks I expect, his rig is going to make women faint and children cry.

Glad to see some progress on that front. It'll also be nice to see Dagz back in the game, although right now my play is limited.

What we need is a GT!

...Maybe that can wait until spring.

Anyway, thanks for the update of the good news. If I hadn't blown all our discretionary money I might be looking to update myself (Windows 7 will still probably need to be a must though).

With everything set to ULTRA HIGH. AA set to 2 and DX10 ENABLED with the character cache and detail at the max settings, this thing is putting up 46-115 FPS throughout Moria. It dips below 30 in the 21st hall.

Drop it to Very high, and lose the DX10 and you sit around 67-140 FPS in most places in Moria.

Windows 7 rating for the box is 5.9 but that's because of the old HDD. It's the oldest slowest piece in the box and that's still a max score for Vista. THe CPU is a 7.3 with a 7.4 for the ram. The old 8800GTX puts up a 6.0. Windows 7 has a max rating of 7.9.

Anyone have an old 8800GTX laying about? This thing supports SLI

So the only thing I can think of that was causing Dagazs to dump out during today's DN run was the old 8800 GTX. It's been sitting in a drawer for over 2 years, and was used pretty hard prior to that. It's entirely possible that there was some about of heat damage to the card already and today's extending play and extra stress of raiding just did it in. It seemed to keep kicking off after heavy loads and lots of heat.

SO, she now has a shiny new GTX 260 making her rig 100% new parts. The only thing still suspect is the RC1 version of Windows 7. That shouldn't be an issue though. Coule weeks we'll take care of that as well.

So... i put windows 7 on my laptop after i got a bit raged at vista crashing a few times. Now i am having an issue with it patching lotro. It gets stuck when its downloading files on the update programs section. Every time it does I can close it and it will start up again and go again for a little while. Then it will lock back up again. Any idea why it is doing this???

Hmmm are you using TDM or the standard patcher in the launcher?

I think its the standard patcher. I just used my MoM discs to install and then just updated from there.

Good news is, i have it up and running. I am just rather annoyed that it kept stopping and i had to restart the client in order for it to continue patching.
